7 easy ways to make your gel manicure last longer

Soft pink manicure

A gel manicure should last two to three weeks — and with a little care, often longer. Here are our technicians’ favourite tips.

  1. Oil every day. Cuticle oil keeps the gel and your natural nail flexible, which helps prevent lifting.
  2. Wear gloves for chores. Hot water and cleaning products are gel’s biggest enemies.
  3. Use your fingertips, not your nails. Do not use nails as tools to open cans or peel stickers.
  4. Avoid long hot soaks for the first 24 hours. Saunas, spas and long baths can soften the product while it settles.
  5. Do not pick. If an edge lifts, file it gently or pop in to see us — peeling takes layers of nail with it.
  6. Moisturise your hands. Healthy skin around the nail means a neater-looking manicure for longer.
  7. Book your next appointment before you leave. Regular maintenance keeps nails strong and even.
